In today’s world, there is what you call pop idols. These are stars that people love. They rule the tv screens, the media etc. People are so excited about them and would go out of their way to show how enthusiastic they are about them. Everything they do seems so perfect to them. That’s in the secular world, the area of music.
In football, there are the football stars, millions watch them, they have their crowd of supporters cheering them on.
This is normal. But I wonder why people don’t take that excitement to Church. We don’t seem so excited about God rather we seem more excited about secular things and people that don’t have value for God. This is why when a Christian goes on evangelism, he won’t make the news but the moment he does something secular then everyone would talk about it. It seems that we are far too excited about ungodly things and in the promotion of such than we are about godly things. The unbelievers promote their own, but Christians are not promoting their own, they are rather looking out for others faults to use against them and by so doing they are promoting the unbelievers.
Look at the films we watch, they are all built around a theme. To make you forget about God and remember something else that does not glorify him. None of them have any likeness or similarities with God. These are carefully hidden.
Stories about Christians told by unbelievers who don’t have any regards for them would not have anything good to say about them. I wonder if Christians don’t preach the gospel through the entertainment industry, is it the unbelievers? And so many are influenced by the entertainment industry.
Many unbelievers are in bible producing business today. For many its just a business, they are not doing it because they love God, so they re doing it for their own purposes. But there’s something about when a christian produces a bible. It carries a divine rub off.
When someone talks excitedly about another Christian, there are people eager to say something to discourage them ,to make them feel like they are over doing it, but they would say nothing if they were talking about a pop idol.
This type of hypocrisy must stop. We must not promote secularism so much that we know nothing about Christianity.
Let’s be excited about Jesus and his people and don’t be ashamed to say you love another Christian especially when you are inspired by them, don’t be distracted by the things others say about them that are not true. Rather focus on the Jesus in them. And you would be so blessed.
