And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?
1 Kings 19:11-13
You would think that all those activities meant that God was manifesting himself. The wind , the noise etc One thing I notice so much about people is that we like drama a lot so much that we would exaggerate things just for drama. But God is not in the drama.
Its good to serve God, to be in the choir, to work in the house of God, but don’t get carried away in activities. God is not in the drama but in the calm quiet voice we sometimes ignore.
Any fleshly expression that does not give glory to God is mere drama. And scripture says the flesh profits nothing.
If people listen to you minister in word, music etc and all they can see is how eloquent you are, you have not really ministered. When you minister to people and they begin to praise God,then you know that you have ministered whether you are the most eloquent or not.
International Standard Version Acts 4:13
Now when the Jewish leaders saw the
boldness of Peter and John and found out
that they were uneducated and ordinary men,
they were amazed and realized that they had
been with Jesus.
Peter and John were unlearned men, but when they spoke, people took note of them that they had being with Jesus.
So you can be extra ordinary not just talented.
This is very vital. God is in the little details and in the little things we sometimes take for granted. That person you just looked down on may be the person who knows the solution to your problems. That’s why as mature Christians, honor is our watchword. Its wonderful how God works. That problem you were thinking would need a whole army to solve, God can use a little child to solve it. This both gives him glory and speaks of his Majesty.
So in everything you do, know that God is not in the noise, the drama and the hullabaloo.
God is in the quiet voice.
Hallelujah!
