1 Thessalonians 5:12 And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; 5:13 And to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
Most times we think that it is the pastors responsibility to minister to us, to encourage us and to counsel us. We hold them responsible for praying for us, for winning souls and for ensuring the growth of the church, so we can sit down there relaxed and say to ourselves, this pastor is doing well or this one is not but have you ever thought that you have any role or responsibility aside that of a spectator?
Do you know that you can minister to your pastor? You ask, how can I minister to my pastor? By praying for them, by sowing meaningfully into their lives and ministry and by encouraging and promoting the expansion of their ministry as much as you can.
Many people think that because you are the Pastor so the responsibility of the church is on you, yes to a large extent it is, but there is something you can do. Ministers of the gospel are exposed to a lot because they are preaching the gospel and trying to lead good Christian lives. They are abused for being good, for helping others they are mocked and slandered. They go through a lot of challenges, personal, family, societal. They carry these burdens along with the burdens of their church and a fellow Christian will do nothing but criticise and analyze every details of their Christian life. That is not Christ like.
Have you ever thought that your Pastor who encourages you may need some encouragement as well? You may say well, God is already encouraging him, that’s true, but your own words of validation will go a long way in promoting the ministry of your Pastor to people who don’t know him or God, there is a special blessing for people who minister to their pastor. God said that when you do anything for the least of his people, you do it for him, as your pastor ministers to you, he is carrying out his ministry but when you minister to them, you are carrying out ministry.
There are ministries reaching out to people around the world, they are giving within and beyond their means to ensure the well-being of others, they could have decided to be ordinary and normal like everyone else to take care of themselves alone and not care about others in need around them, but they are ministering to those in prisons, they are giving food to the poor, they are visiting those that are sick, most importantly they are preaching the gospel,
May the Lord minister to you what you can do to establish and expand the good work that they are doing, you may never know all those who you have helped or how you have being a blessing but God knows.
No one can honor and lift like the Lord, none can bless like him, and nothing can compare to God because he is the Supreme One, Sovereign above all, this is not something he is trying to make you believe, this is who he is, and as you honor God’s people and God’s ministers, the Lord will bless you and beautify you with his glory, grace and splendor.
