The sweetest sounds to any ones ears is the sound of their name. Names are more than just an identity, they influence greatly a persons course in life. This is why several times in the bible, God had to change the names of his people to suit his purpose for their lives. For example he changed Jacob’s name which meant swindler or deceiver to Israel.
Genesis 32:26 And he said, Let me go.. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me. 32:27 And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob. 32:28 And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel
God had to give him a new name in order for him to be able to work effectively with him. Abram had his name also changed from assumed father to Abraham; Father of many.
Genesis 17:5 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.
It’s important we realize the power of a name. Every name signifies something. Every name carries authority. God has always revealed himself through many names in the bible. Each name showed a part of him. For example He simply referred to himself as I AM THAT I AM, when asked by Moses whom do I say that you are.
Exodus 3:14
In the New testament God through Jesus has given us a name above all names. The name of Jesus. Jesus means Saviour. The hebrew name for Jesus is Joshua. A lot of jews today still bear the name; Jesus. However when a child of God calls that name with an understanding of the authority and power it carries, it’s no longer just an ordinary name but a name full of power and might.
Mark 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues..
Even if you think you don’t know how to pray, You can learn to say simple words like ‘Thank you Jesus’ or ‘I love you Jesus’. And you can begin to feel the presence of God as you focus on him. God wants us to call that name ‘Jesus’ conscious of our authority in Christ. Use it to change situations for good.
As a child of God, The name of Jesus is named on you, You are set apart for a life of glory, power and dominion. You are a Success, a Champion, a Victor, a Big time kingdom financier, a Holy and Peculiar generation, a Distributer of life. It does not matter what anyone else thinks or says because you know who you are. Before long you ll see yourself functioning in the blessings of God like never before.
